GOP Rep. Anderson Plans Run For Koch's Senate Seat

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) -- Republican State Rep. Bruce Anderson says he's likely to seek the state Senate seat being vacated by Sen. Amy Koch.

Anderson says Wednesday that he's holding back on a formal announcement until redistricting determines new Senate district lines. But he says many of his supporters have encouraged him to run for the seat.

Anderson was elected to the state House in 1994 and is chairman of House Veterans Services Division. The resident of Buffalo Township works in agribusiness and is retired from the Air Force Reserve.

Koch announced last month she would not seek reelection. She resigned as Senate majority leader and admitted to engaging in a romantic relationship with a Senate subordinate. The Wright County-area Senate district includes Monticello, Buffalo, Maple Lake, St. Michael, Albertville and Elk River.
