Michigan Tech Routs Minn. St., Mankato 7-3

MANKATO, Minn. (AP) — Michigan Tech scored six goals in the first period and coasted to a 7-3 Western Collegiate Hockey Association win over Minnesota State, Mankato on Saturday.

Ryan Furne, Brett Olson and David Johnstone had three points apiece for the Huskies (13-13-2, 10-8-2), who earned a split in the series after losing 5-3 on Friday.

Furne and Olson had two goals and an assist apiece, while Johnstone assisted on three goals.

Michigan Tech goalie Josh Robinson had 18 of his 35 saves in the third period.

MSUM (10-19-1, 6-15-1) outshot the Huskies 38-30.

Matt Leitner had a goal and two assists and Zach Palmquist chipped in a goal and an assist for MSUM, which got 23 saves from Austin Lee and Phil Cook.
