Police: Car Chase Cuts Through W. Metro, Ends In Crash

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Police chased a suspect in a freshly-stolen car Friday morning from Orono to Golden Valley, where the chase ended in a crash, authorities said.

Police said a West Hennepin Public Safety officer observed the car, which was stolen out of Cokato, Minn., heading east on Highway 12 at around 6:40 a.m. The officer contacted other police agencies in order to pull off a felony stop of the car, which police described as a 2007 Blue/Grey Dodge Charger.

But when police tried to pull the car over near the intersection of Highway 12 and County Road 6, the driver sped off. Police followed.

The driver continued east on Highway 12 before going north on General Mills Boulevard, where he crashed into cars stopped at the intersection of Highway 55.

Police said no one was hurt in the crash and that a 25-year-old St. Louis Park man was arrested for fleeing police and possessing a stolen car. The suspect is being held at the Hennepin County Jail.
