BEMIDJI, Minn. (AP) — Bemidji State is making only the second NCAA Division II men’s basketball tournament appearance in program history.

The Beavers were last in the field in 2004. They play Saturday in the Central Region quarterfinals as the No. 3 seed against St. Cloud State in Golden, Colo.

Fellow NSIC foes Southwest Minnesota State and Minnesota State, Moorhead face off in another quarterfinal game on Saturday night.

On the women’s side, Minnesota Duluth plays Metro State of Colorado and Minnesota State, Mankato plays host Wayne State in the Central region quarterfinals in Nebraska.

In Division III, the St. Thomas women’s team is also in action this weekend. The Tommies, who won their first two NCAA tournament games, play Tufts University of Massachusetts in a sectional semifinal game on Friday night in Chicago.
