Talking Points: Dayton On A Stadium Deal This Session

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- This week the governor's Vikings Stadium proposal will be brought up in hearings at the state capitol.

The governor's deal calls for electronic pull tabs to fund the state's share, but now that's coming under fire from charities who also benefit from pull tab sales.

Minnesota Allied Charities says the governor's proposal overestimates how much electronic pull tabs would raise and is a bad deal for nonprofits.

Appearing on WCCO Sunday Morning, Gov. Mark Dayton says he is willing to work with charities to get them a better tax rates on pull tab receipts. The governor admits the odds of getting the stadium deal done aren't great.

"I'd say it is 50/50," he said. "It's there to be gained and it's there to be lost. I would say a lot of opponents are a lot more outspoken and much more engaged at the legislature right now than the people who would be advocates for it so I hope any of your listeners who want to see the Vikings stay around for a while, will call their legislators and urge them to support this."

The Vikings have repeatedly refused to say what they will do if a deal isn't reached this session.

You can watch WCCO Sunday Morning with Esme Murphy every Sunday at 10 a.m.
