St. Thomas Women Head To D3 Basketball Final 4

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — The St. Thomas women's basketball team is headed to the NCAA Division III Final Four.

The Tommies take their 30-1 record to Holland, Mich., where they'll face Illinois Wesleyan in the national semifinals Friday. The championship is Saturday.

This is the fifth time St. Thomas has gone to the Final Four, the third-most appearances by a Division III women's basketball program. The St. Paul school last went in 2000.

The Gophers will be in action Friday, too, though it's a long way from the Final Four.

Minnesota has a spot in the Women's Basketball Invitational to play Charleston Southern in the opening round at Williams Arena. With a win, the Gophers would host a game on Sunday against either Bradley or Tennessee Tech. Minnesota's record is 15-17.
