AMES, Iowa (AP) — Iowa State sophomore forward Royce White says he’s leaving school and declaring for the NBA Draft.

White was the Big 12’s Newcomer of the Year. The 6-8, 270-pounder from Minneapolis led the Cyclones with 13.4 points and 9.3 rebounds a game this season and helped Iowa State reach the NCAA tournament for the first time in seven years.

White was at his best in the tournament, scoring 23 points with nine rebounds in an 87-71 loss to top-seeded Kentucky on Saturday.

White began his career at Minnesota in 2009-10, but transferred to Iowa State without playing a game. He sat out the 2010-11 season before blossoming into the Cyclones’ most indispensable player.

…anyone who does a YouTube video about themselves at age 18 talking about how the world has done him wrong and how he was the victim..should get at least a minimum 7 year prison sentence

You took the words right out of my mouth, dmonson. Royce White is a perfect example of everything that is deplorable and wrong with humanity today. An undeserved sense of entitlement…a mentality that he’s above the law because he can play a sport…a victim mentality when he’s arrested and formally charged with a crime. And what saddens me the most is that he’s everything the NBA is looking for. This is the type of behavior to be glorified? Humanity has no chance…

Love the hate for the guy here. Sure, he did some bone-headed stuff as a TEEN, but has he been in the news lately for anything but using his god-given ability to play basketball?
I hope he goes on to make millions of dollars in the NBA. He’s a beast and has tons of talent.
Sure, it would’ve been nice to see him and Mbakwe play together, with Devoe, but that didn’t happen. Move on…..

dig it fred. move on. tubby never saw or for that matter anticipated the train wreck with those recruits. but, on paper the big ten was his oyster. freddy and the town of ames are probably in shock.

Big mistake. 2nd Round pick without a doubt. Rick Rickert had far better numbers and he made the same dumb move. Believing he was more than the game. Where is Rickert now. Hmmm playing in Uriguay or something
