Rash Of Robberies Has Mpls Neighborhood On Alert

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Police have the Phillips neighborhood of Minneapolis on high alert after a rash of robberies in the area over the last two weeks.

Authorities say there have been 19 reported robberies in the area since March 15. Police say arrests have been made in three cases, but they are still looking for suspects in several others. A majority of the incidents have been happening between 10 p.m. and midnight , but police say they have only limited information.

In 13 of the cases, the suspects have been described as black men 18 to 25 years old anywhere from 5 feet, 6 inches to 6 feet tall. In 12 of the incidents, the suspects were armed and used handguns and in many cases victims were assaulted. No victims were shot in any robberies, according to police.

Anyone with information about the incidents is asked to call Minneapolis Police. Residents in the area are asked to call 911 if they see any suspicious activity.
