Dungy Not Interested In Being Minnesota AD
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Former NFL head coach and University of Minnesota standout Tony Dungy has dropped by spring practice to talk to the Gophers team.
Dungy was in the Twin Cities on Tuesday for a fundraiser luncheon and speaking event.
Dungy says he was asked recently about his interest in Minnesota'sopen athletics director job, with Joel Maturi retiring this summer, but made clear he wouldn't pursue that. Dungy says he is "really happy doing what I'm doing and enjoying life." He says he appreciates not being tied to a weekly schedule.
During the NFL season, Dungy does television analysis for NBC. He speaks to groups often about leadership, his life in football and his Christian faith, and has written several books.
