Woman Found Shot To Death In St. Croix County

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Authorities are investigating after a man found his wife dead in a field in St. Croix County Monday afternoon.

The man called authorities at about 4:46 p.m. Monday after he apparently found his wife dead in a field in Somerset Township, Wis. When the St. Croix County Sheriff's Office got to the scene, they found a 53-year-old woman from the Somerset area who had died from an apparent gunshot wound.

Authorities have not released the name of the victim pending a further investigation. The St. Croix County Sheriff's Office was assisted at the scene by the Somerset Fire and Rescue Department and the St. Croix County Medical Examiner.
