Injured Woodpecker Finds Home At Minnesota Zoo
APPLE VALLEY, Minn. (WCCO) – An injured woodpecker has found a new home at the Minnesota Zoo after spending almost a year at the Wildlife Rehabilitation Center in Roseville.
Zoo officials said the woodpecker was injured in the wild after falling from a nest. The bird was unable to lift its neck and suffered from other neurological ailments after the fall.
Officials said the woodpecker was in very thin and bad condition after the fall. The bird was cared for all of last summer at an Avian Nursery. The Minnesota Zoo agreed to take in the woodpecker from the Wildlife Rehabilitation Center recently and has been improving every day since.
