Pedestrian Hit, Killed By Freight Train In Plymouth

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Authorities say a pedestrian was hit and killed by a freight train in Plymouth Tuesday morning.

Details of the accident aren't clear at this time, other than that the accident happened at about 7:55 a.m. and that an adult was hit by the train. Authorities say a pedestrian was found trapped underneath a train between Larch Lane and Zachary Lane in Plymouth. The person was walking along the tracks while the train was traveling southbound.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities say the train involved was from the Canadian Pacific Railway. An official with Canadian Pacific said the train operator did everything they could to alert the person before the accident, but the person was not responsive. That included sounding a horn and activating the train's emergency brake.

Authorities have not released the victim's identity. The accident what led up to it is still under investigation.
