MnDOT Closing I-94 In Minneapolis This Weekend For Road Work

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Motorists this weekend will experience delays one final time as a portion of Interstate 94 in the Twin Cities will be closed due to construction.

Westbound I-94 will be closed from Highway 280 to Highway 55/Hiawatha Avenue starting at 10 p.m. Friday. The ramps for westbound I-94 throughout the closure limits will be closed at 9 p.m. Friday.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation advises motorists east of I-35E to use northbound I-35E to Highway 36, then take I-35W to 94. The detour for motorists west of I-35E is to use northbound Highway 280 to northbound I-35W, then take westbound I-694 to westbound I-94.

Also, the Minneapolis Marathon will be taking place Sunday on West River Parkway. The street will be closed from Broadway to 54th Street beginning at 6 a.m. The parkway north of the Interstate 35W overpass will reopen at around 9:15 a.m., with the rest of West River Parkway opening by 3 p.m.

All roadways are expected to be reopened in time for the morning rush hour on Monday.
