Man Pleads Guilty To Hitting Boy While On Motorcycle

ST. PAUL (WCCO) -- A 25-year-old St. Paul man is admitting he drove his motorcycle too fast and hit a little boy.

Ernest Jonas was in Ramsey County Court Tuesday, where he pleaded guilty to two counts of criminal vehicular operation. Jonas' attorney argued for Jonas to be released from jail, but the judge denied that request.

Four-year-old Tyrell Baymon was critically injured when Jonas hit him on May 19. Baymon was holding his mom's hand as the family was heading to Como Park to celebrate his birthday.

His skull was fractured, leaving him unconscious in a hospital bed with a breathing tube. He is now awake and listed in fair condition.

Sentencing for Jonas is set for Aug. 6.
