Mpls. Locks, Dams To Reopen To Recreation Traffic
ST. PAUL, Minn. (WCCO) – Recreational boaters can get back on the Mississippi River beginning at noon on Friday, as the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is reopening the three Twin Cities locks after closing them on Memorial Day.
The Army Corps stresses caution because the currents are still running high.
The Upper St. Anthony Falls and Lower St. Anthony Falls locks and dams in downtown Minneapolis, and Lock and Dam 1 next to Minnehaha Park in Minneapolis had previously been closed as flows had been exceeding 30,000 cubic feet per second.
