Police Identify Victim In Minneapolis Library Shooting

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Police have identified the man who was shot last week in a Minneapolis library.

The man has been identified as 42-year-old Macdad Abdullahi. Police say Abdullahi is paralyzed from the waist down after being shot in the back. Abdullahi, who is homeless, was allegedly brushing his teeth in the bathroom at the Franklin Avenue Library when he was gunned down.

He told police he heard the suspect mumble something before he shot him. Investigators are still looking into the events that occurred leading up to the shooting.

Police said they are searching for a man about 6-feet-tall, wearing a red T-shirt. Police added that the suspect is also homeless and a frequent visitor at both the Franklin Avenue Library and the Central Library in downtown Minneapolis.

It's possible that he goes by the street name, "Xavier."

Anyone with information is asked to call 612-673-2941.
