Fire Damages Waste Management Facility In West Metro
NORWOOD-YOUNG AMERICA, Minn. (WCCO) -- Firefighters from five departments fought back flames at a waste management facility in Carver County overnight, according to authorities.
Crews responded to a report of a fire at about 9:30 p.m. Wednesday at the plant on Highway 212 west of the Twin Cities in Norwood-Young America. When authorities arrived, the fire had filled the area with smoke for several hours but crews were able to get it under control.
Authorities said no employees were inside the facility when it caught fire and nobody was hurt in the blaze. It's not known how much damage the fire caused, and what caused the fire is still under investigation.
