Couple's Wedding Bus Goes Up In Flames

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (WCCO) -- A newlywed couple in Minnesota was no doubt refraining from shouting "the roof is on fire" at their reception, given they had just escaped from a burning limo bus.

Ken and Liz McDonald and their wedding party were on the way to their reception in a limo bus Saturday when one of the bridesmaids noticed smoke coming through the seats.

The driver pulled over on Larpenter Avenue and Interstate 35E and it wasn't long before the entire vehicle went up in flames and smoke.

Fortunately, everyone got out without injury.

"Two minutes later we were 100 yards from the bus and it was up in flames," said groom Ken McDonald. "The plume was unbelievable."

A police officer drove the bride and groom to the reception to continue the celebration. Their parents picked up everyone else.

As for the limo bus, it didn't fare as well. The owner is waiting for a report from the fire department to find out what happened.
