Plane, Hot Air Balloon Make Unexpected Landings In Carver Co.

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A small plane and a hot air balloon had to make unexpected landings Wednesday night in Carver County, authorities say.

The two events happened within in hours of each other. No one was hurt in either landing.

First, engine issues caused a small plane to make an emergency landing on County Road 11 in Victoria, Minn., shortly before 7 p.m. The plane had one occupant and sustained no damage, authorities said.

About two hours later, a hot air balloon had to land near the intersection of Highway 41 and Highway 212. It's not clear what caused the balloon to seek ground, but the scene was cleared in about 40 minutes.

The two incidents do not appear to be connected.
