'Stop The Violence' Fundraiser Held In North Minneapolis

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) - Some people living in North Minneapolis came together on Saturday to say they're tired of violence.

A carwash was held at Farview Park to bring attention to the problems. The group Young Just-Us, made up of young men and women from the Northside, sponsored the event.

Volunteers like Zach King washed cars and talked about making a change in the community.

"We're trying to just raise funds to help do events for the community to try to stop the violence in our community - so many killings, and a lot of violence going on," said King.

Just this past Wednesday, three people were shot on 36th and Girard Avenue North. One man died from gunshot wounds to his head. The other two were taken to the hospital.

It was the tenth homicide in North Minneapolis. No arrests have been made.
