MOA Aquarium Celebrates 'Shark Week'

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. (WCCO) -- You're not going to need a bigger boat, but you are going to see plenty of jaws during Sea Life Minnesota aquarium's Shark Week.

In celebration, the aquarium, which is located in the basement of the Mall of America, is separating the myths from the facts about sharks.

WCCO-TV morning reporter Chris Stanford got a chance to get up close and personal with some on Tuesday. You can watch video of his dip into shark-infested waters above.

To go along with Shark Week, Sea Life is making it bloodier than ever by helping the American Red Cross host a blood drive.

It runs from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. Wednesday. Anyone who donates will receive a voucher for a free admission to Sea Life to use anytime.

Sea Life Minnesota is also hosting an event where you can visit the aquarium with the lights out. It's called "Sharks After Dark."

Not only will you get a unique view of 10,000 sea creatures, but there will also be live music, games and food. It starts at 8:30 p.m. Thursday and goes until 11:30 p.m.
