Lynx Cruise Past Mystics In Return From Break

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Seimone Augustus scored 20 points and Maya Moore and Monica Wright added 17 each as the Minnesota Lynx returned from the Olympic break with a 98-69 victory over the Washington Mystics on Friday.

Rebekkah Brunson had 11 points and Lindsay Whalen added 10 points and nine assists to give the defending champion Lynx (16-4) their third straight win since a three-game losing streak.

Monique Currie, Lindsay Wisdom-Hylton and Crystal Langhorne each scored 12 points for the Eastern Conference-worst Mystics (4-16), who followed up an 18-point loss at Indiana on Thursday with their second-biggest defeat of the season.

Augustus scored all her points in just 21 minutes, leaving the game for good with 4:45 left in the third quarter after suffering a sprained right ankle. The Lynx led by at least 24 points the rest of the contest.

Washington trailed by two midway through the first quarter, but Wright scored five points during the Lynx's 18-2 run to take a 33-15 lead. Minnesota maintained a double-digit cushion the rest of the game.

The Lynx, who led by as many as 33 points, outshot the Mystics 51 percent (39 for 76) to 37 percent (25 for 67) and outscored them in the paint 54-34. Minnesota also scored a season-best 32 points off Washington's 18 turnovers.

Augustus, Moore and Whalen, who helped the United States win Olympic gold for the fifth straight time at the London Games, showed off their medals before the game.
