By The Numbers: State Fair Facts & Tid Bits

ST. PAUL (WCCO) -- About 1.7 million people will be coming through the gates for the duration of the fair. That means there is a lot of food consumed.

One single ticket gets you through the gates of the Great Minnesota Get-Together -- giving access to 500 foods and some 300 rides plus attractions.

Over 12 days, Minnesotans will see nearly 170 baby animals born at the Miracle of birth center. Fairgoers will watch Linda Christenson carve the Princess Kay finalists out of 90 pounds of butter.

Speaking of dairy, Minnesotans will drink 25,000 gallons of milk from the "All You Can Drink" Milk Stand.

But that's nothing compared to what we eat.

Nearly half a million sticks will be used for pronto pups and corndogs, 145 tons of potatoes to make French fries, 2.6 million cheese curds and 4 million mini donuts.

With more than 1.6 million people expected this year, that one ticket is offering endless options for fair fun.

Here are few more stats for you: There are 2,500 employees at the state fair to make this run smoothly and in case you were wondering, 22,000 rolls of toilet paper will be used.
