Synthetic Marijuana Seized From Blaine Shop

BLAINE, Minn. (WCCO) – The Anoka-Hennepin Drug and Violent Crime Task Force and the Blaine Police Department seized synthetic marijuana from a tobacco shop Friday morning, said authorities.

Officers executed a search warrant at Blaine Tobacco, located at 1430 93rd Lane NE, around 9 a.m. Friday morning. Eighteen packages of "Chill Herbal Incense", weighing four grams each, were seized.

Laboratory results indicated that "Chill Herbal Incense" contains the synthetic analog AM-2201, a Schedule I Controlled Substance.

In moderate doses, AM-2201 can cause vomiting, panic attacks, and in some cases, convulsions.

Fifty-five year-old Mahmoud Ismail of Blaine was arrested for sale of a controlled substance, which is a felony.

He has yet to be charged by the Anoka County Attorney's Office, and is currently being held at the Anoka County Jail.
