MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — It’s Welcome Week on the University of Minnesota campus, but the freshmen class is already taking a bit of a field trip.

Groups of about 20 are touring downtown Minneapolis, taking in the sites, so they’ll be ready to get around once school starts on Tuesday.

Anna Wankhade is one of the tour guides. She says the kids come from near and far.

“They are kind of from all over the United States and some are international as well,” Wankhade said.

Several of the freshman in one group were from China, including Owen.

“So far it’s hot, but I hear it’s going to be really cold in the winter time,” he said.

School starts at the University of Minnesota on Tuesday.
