Minn. Event Marks 150 Years Since Civil War Battle

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) -- Former Gov. Al Quie is marking the 150th anniversary of a major Civil War battle with a send-off for a contingent of Civil War re-enactors headed to Maryland.

The group will take part in a re-enactment of the Battle of Antietam in Sharpsburg, Md., this coming weekend.

The original battle took place on Sept. 17 and 18, 1862.

Joining Quie and the Civil War re-enactors at the Capitol event will be members of the Minnesota Civil War Commemoration Task Force and other officials.
