ROCKFORD, Minn. (WCCO) – A driver of a garbage truck west of the Twin Cities had to be airlifted to a hospital Tuesday morning after apparently colliding with a train, according to the Wright County Sheriff's Office.

Authorities said the accident happened at about 6:30 a.m. at 5th Street in Rockford Township. The driver was airlifted to Mercy Hospital and is currently listed in stable condition.

The Wright County Sheriff's Office said the Canadian Pacific train was headed eastbound in the area when it hit the garbage truck. They were assisted at the scene by the Buffalo Fire Department and the Minnesota State Patrol.
