Nolan Joins Wave Of TV Ads In Minn.'s 8th District

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- Democratic congressional candidate Rick Nolan is joining a chorus of TV ads in Minnesota's 8th District.

Nolan's campaign said Sunday it will begin its first post-primary ad on Monday, emphasizing his northern Minnesota roots without mentioning Republican Rep. Chip Cravaack.

The ad features Nolan talking about hunting, fishing, gardening and harvesting maple syrup. He says, "In Washington they're doing anything but working for us."

The campaign says the ad will air throughout the district, which includes the Twin Cities and Duluth television markets.

The race between Nolan and Cravaack is getting national attention after Cravaack upset a long-serving Democrat two years ago in a traditionally Democratic area.

Outside groups including both political parties launched ads about the northeastern Minnesota race last week.
