Klobuchar Readies First TV Ad Of Minn. Senate Race

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Minnesota Sen. Amy Klobuchar has put down money for the first TV commercial of what's been an unusually quiet U.S. Senate campaign.

The Federal Communications Commission website showed Wednesday that the Democrat's campaign is spending $72,000 for a 30-second spot that will air 46 times on WCCO-TV in the Twin Cities beginning Monday, Oct. 1, and running about a week.

FCC records indicate Klobuchar also bought airtime on other Twin Cities stations, but details of those purchases were not immediately posted. Spokesmen for Klobuchar's campaign did not immediately respond to phone messages.

Klobuchar's Republican opponent, Kurt Bills, has not appeared on TV and has been at a tremendous financial disadvantage so far. Klobuchar had more than $5 million in the bank in mid-July compared to just over $5,000 for Bills.
