2 Killed, 2 Arrested In Carlton County Crash

CROMWELL, Minn. (WCCO) -- Two people have been arrested after a multiple-vehicle crash near Cromwell, Minn. killed two people Monday morning.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, the crash happened at about 8:45 a.m. along Highway 210 near Award Boulevard.

An Oldsmobile Aurora being driven by 26-year-old Vanessa Brigan, of Cloquet, Minn., was headed eastbound and, according to the patrol, weaved over the center line, striking the left rear tire of a Ford pickup truck traveling in the opposite direction.

The truck then crossed back over into eastbound traffic and struck a third vehicle towing a gooseneck trailer. The truck struck the trailer and both the truck's driver and passenger were ejected and killed.

The State Patrol identified the victims as 25-year-old Zachary Gamache of Esko, Minn. and 29-year-old Mitchell Lingren of Duluth, Minn.

Brigan was arrested for criminal vehicular operation, the State Patrol said. Her passenger, 25-year-old Jesse McMillen of Cloquet, Minn., fled the scene and was later arrested.
