Walker Back, Gophers Beat MSU 81-56 In Exhibition

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Mo Walker scored eight points in 11 minutes in his first game for Minnesota in nearly two years, and the Gophers beat Minnesota State 81-56 Thursday in an exhibition.

Trevor Mbakwe also had four points and three rebounds in his first action since injuring his right knee last Nov. 27. Walker hurt his right knee as a freshman on Dec. 23, 2010. He took a redshirt last season.

Joe Coleman led the Gophers with 21 points.

Zach Romashko scored 18 points for the Mavericks, who reached the NCAA Division II semifinals two years ago but went 7-19 in 2011-12. Eight of the 13 players on their roster are Minnesotans, but the starting lineup for the Mankato school comprises two Wisconsinites, one from Illinois, one from Colorado and one from Egypt.
