Ronald McDonald Care Mobile Brings Free Dental Care To Kids

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A trip to the dentist is not always a fun thing for a kid. But it's a little easier when the dentist comes to you. And, when it's free.

The Ronald McDonald Care Mobile brings dental care right to kids.

On Monday, the Care Mobile was at Zanewood Recreation Center in Brooklyn Park.

There are two exam rooms where a dentist can do cleanings, take x-rays and even do fillings.

"There's a lot of kids that aren't able to go to the dentist -- whether they're uninsured or under-insured, they don't have the resources to be able to go to the dentist. So we are able to come into communities like this and provide free dental services to kids who otherwise wouldn't have it," said Lauren Rasmussen, Ronald McDonald Care Mobile Coordinator.

The Ronald McDonald Care Mobile has been operating for three years -- and has taken care of about 4,000 young patients.

Some of the kids see Ronald McDonald on the Care Mobile and ask if there are hamburgers inside, Rasmussen said.
