Light-Rail Service Suspended This Weekend

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Those hoping to use the train to get in and out of downtown Minneapolis should brush up on their Plan B.

Metro Transit announced they are suspending light rail service over the weekend to work on scheduled maintenance and construction. Six stops will be affected by the shutdown -- all of those between Franklin Avenue and Target Field.

The stops will close at 6:30 p.m. Friday and should reopen by 3:30 a.m. Monday.

Metro Transit will supply bus service to the affected stops. Service south of Franklin Avenue should continue as usual.

The shutdown will allow crews to work on the Central Corridor light-rail project where the new line meets up with the Hiawatha Line.
