Clay County Car Crash Victim ID'd

CLAY COUNTY, Minn. (WCCO/AP) -- The Minnesota State Patrol identified Eileen Johnson, 87, of Pelican Rapids, Minn., as the victim who drowned after a vehicle went off the road and into open water in northwestern Minnesota Friday night.

The state patrol says the accident happened in Clay County, on Highway 32, about two miles north of Rollag, Minn.

Ervin Johnson, 83, was the other person in the vehicle when it left the roadway at 5:30 p.m. Friday. He suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Sgt. Jesse Grabow had said there were patches of ice and packed snow on the roadway at the time, but authorities are investigating if weather was a factor. He says it was not snowing at the time of the crash.
