Survival Preppers Expo Set Saturday In Bloomington

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. (AP) -- Organizers of the Survival Preppers Expo in Bloomington this weekend are asking attendees to leave their politics at the door.

The expo is aimed at giving people the tools they need to prepare for a catastrophe-- ranging from a natural disaster or accidental hazard to unemployment or illness.

But organizers stress that the expo is a non-political event. They say they want everyone to feel comfortable.

Organizers describe preppers as people who store food and water and look for ways to live with alternative sources of electricity, heat, water and food.

Subjects include solar and wind power, security systems, water purification, gardening, beekeeping, self-defense and dehydrated food.

The expo is being held Saturday at the Ramada Bloomington Hotel Minneapolis Airport Mall.
