DFL Rep. Morrow Resigning House Seat For New Job

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — A Democratic state representative reelected last month to his St. Peter-area seat is resigning for a new job.

Terry Morrow announced his resignation Wednesday. He says he'll serve out the rest of his current term, which ends on January 8. Morrow is a communications professor at Gustavus Adolphus College.

Morrow has been hired to lead legislative efforts nationwide for the Chicago-based Uniform Law Commission, which aims to help states draft laws that are consistent from state to state and with federal statutes. Morrow says he was approached about the job after he was reelected to a fourth term in November.

Gov. Mark Dayton will be charged with setting a special election in Morrow's district. Until the seat is filled, Democrats will hold a 72-61 majority in the House.
