MN Woman Gets Life In Prison For Ex-Husband's Murder

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A 39-year-old Minnesota woman who pleaded guilty to murdering her ex-husband and is suspected of also killing her boyfriend has been sentenced to life in prison without parole.

In November, Angelina Omara pleaded guilty to first-degree murder in the death of James Omara. She was sentenced on Friday in Benton County (Wis.) Court.

Omara is also accused of second-degree murder in the death of her boyfriend, 36-year-old Michael Pies, who was found dead at an Ashland, Wis. hotel the day after James Omara's death.

Police at the time said both men died in similar fashion, of a gunshot wound to the head with a pillow over their face.

Authorities said they were told by neighbors that Omara had been staying at her ex-husband's apartment in Sauk Rapids off and on for about a month and was also reportedly sharing a hotel room in Ashland, Wis. with Pies.

Omara is still facing trial for the murder of Pies.
