St. Cloud St. Beats RPI, 2-1
ST. CLOUD, Minn. (AP) — Drew LeBlanc scored twice in the second period to lift St. Cloud State to a 2-1 men's college hockey win over Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute on Friday.
LeBlanc's goals helped the Huskies (12-8-0) earn a split of their two-game series. RPI won the first meeting of the series 4-3 on Thursday.
LeBlanc's first goal on the power play at 12:54 of the second period tied the game 1-1. RPI (5-7-4) had taken a 1-0 lead on Matt Tinordi's goal just 2:43 into the game. LeBlanc netted the winner at 19:37 of the second.
Ryan Faragher made 14 saves for St. Cloud State, which outshot the Engineers 25-15.
RPI goalie Scott Diebold made 23 saves. The teams combined for only eight shots on goal in the third period.
