Mpls., Green Bay Mayor Place Bet On Saturday's Game

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Saturday's big wild card match-up has plenty on the line for the Minnesota Vikings and the Green Bay Packers -- and now the mayors of those respective cities are adding their own friendly wager.

Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak and Green Bay Mayor Jim Schmitt placed a friendly bet on the playoff game on Thursday.

If the Vikings win, Mayor Rybak will get BelGioioso cheese, Sno-Cap Root Beer from Titletown Brewing Company and Beernsten's candies -- all from Green Bay. If the Packers win, Mayor Schmitt will receive house-made sausages from Minneapolis restaurant Butcher and the Boar.

"Three hundred and sixty-two days a year, I represent a city near the border with many wonderful people from Wisconsin. Saturday night, however, my blood will run purple and Viking horns will spear the Cheeseheads," Mayor Rybak said in a released statement. "I'm looking forward to giving new meaning to 'Skol, Vikings!' with a good chug of Green Bay root beer and a side of Green Bay cheese."
