Eagan Victim In Drunken Altercation Identified

EAGAN, Minn. (WCCO) – Authorities have identified a man who died earlier this week following a drunken altercation with his roommate in Eagan.

The Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office identified the victim as 36-year-old Jonathan Thomas Lahr of Eagan. His roommate, 28-year-old Samuel Walter Peterson, was taken into custody in connection with the incident.

Police were called late New Year's Day to an apartment on the 4500 block of Slater Road. The person who called police told them he had been in a fight with another man, who was unresponsive and not breathing.

When authorities arrived, they attempted to revive Lahr but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said Peterson and Lahr had been roommates since June of 2012, and there had been a previous call to their residence on a noise complaint. There were three other people in the apartment at the time of the incident. Police said two of them had blood alcohol levels of .195 and .205, both more than twice the legal limit for driving.

The medical examiner said Lahr's cause of death is still pending an additional investigation. The Eagan Police Department is assisting with the investigation.
