MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — A Ham Lake woman bought a Minnesota Millionaire Raffle ticket around Thanksgiving and last week found out she really has something to be thankful for: That ticket was a $1 million winner!
On Nov. 21, 2012, Cathy Murphy bought the ticket at a Holiday gas station in Garrison on her way to visit family and friends.READ MORE: Minnesota Parents Want More School COVID Protocols As Cases Spike
Now, Cathy and her husband, Jim, are $1 million richer. On Monday afternoon, Cathy and Jim picked up the big check at Lottery Headquarters. She took a personal day off from her job as a school lunch worker.
“I actually work two jobs and I’m going to keep working at both of them. I know in the past that you’ve had people who are cooks in schools win, and I’m actually a cook in a school,” said Cathy.READ MORE: Missing Dog Makes It Home Safe After Being Stolen Along With Vehicle
So far, the couple doesn’t have many plans on what they’re going to do with the money.
“We’re gonna put in a three-season porch on the house and that’s really the only plans we have,” said Jim.MORE NEWS: ATF Offers $5,000 Reward For Info Leading To Minneapolis Church Arsonist
