Joining In On 'Wild Wednesday' Are Fans From Australia

ST. PAUL, Minn. (WCCO) -- "Wild Wednesday" is here as doors opened at the Xcel Energy Center at 6 p.m. for the team's scrimmage.

Those who attend the scrimmage get a $10 voucher to spend at the concession stand. It's just one of the perks the team hopes to offer fans this year as hockey returns to St. Paul following the lockout.

The Wild's home opener? Already sold out. With the Hockey Lodge selling most of its merchandise at 50 percent off, it's a good day to be a hockey fan.

Even hockey fans from as far as Australia joined in. Ryan Duncan's family discovered Wild hockey on the web and can't get enough of the Minnesota team.

"We thought we weren't going to see any hockey," said Ryan's dad, Peter. "But we got lucky, I guess. We got a couple of tickets to Saturday night's game against Colorado."
