Goin' To The (Frozen) Lake: Chris & Amelia Visit The Birkie

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – On Thursday, Amelia Santaniello and Chris Shaffer hopped in the Mobile Weather Watcher and drove out to Hayward, Wis.

The two visited one of the biggest cross country ski events in the world -- the American Birkebeiner. The race has its origins in a historic Norwegian event. Way back in 1206, two soldiers, known as Birkebeiners, skied an infant prince to safety during a civil war. The race re-creates that journey.
