Extra Police At Eden Prairie High School Thursday After Threat

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Authorities say there's an enhanced police presence at Eden Prairie High School Thursday after tensions between students prompted the threat of a gun being brought to school.

Officials say the apparent incident took place on Wednesday at the high school, and rumors followed on social media about what might take place on Thursday. School officials said they became aware of tension between some students after messages that were posted on Twitter.

There were no incidents at Eden Prairie High School on Wednesday as a result, but authorities were also investigating a threat of a gun being brought to the school. A subsequent investigation proved the threat to be unfounded.

School officials said administration will be extra vigilant on Thursday and a police presence has been added at the school to ensure the safety of students. Eden Prairie High School Principal Conn McCartan had no comment on the matter.

At this time there is no apparent danger to students and faculty, police said.
