Weather Blog: April Snow Showers

Here in the Twin Cities we average 2.4 inches of snow in the month of April. Much of it melts on contact with the warmer ground, and even if it does accumulate it doesn't last for long.

I say all of this for a reason. We have snow coming over the next few days.

It won't be flakes mixing in with the rain like we had last Friday. This will be an all snow situation that stacks up in a few towns across the southern half of the state. Some towns could see over a foot of wet, sloppy snow. You may see plows ... you may need to shovel ... you may choose to leave it.

I have confidence that our highways will be in fair shape during the storm, but the side roads could be slick. So please be careful until this storm wraps up on Thursday night.

Expect below average temps throughout the work week, and it will be windy Tuesday and Wednesday. At this point the greatest snow accumulation looks to happen from late Wednesday through Thursday.
