This award in now given to women writers whose published works reflect creativity and insight, and illuminate the pivotal roles of food, beverages, the arts of the table or contribute to our knowledge of those who grow, produce or prepare nourishment. Dara is nominated for her article “The Cheese Artist”, published in September in Minneapolis-St. Paul Magazine. It profiled artisan cheesemaker Mary Falk, co-owner of LoveTree Farmstead in Grantsburg, Wisconsin. You can read the article here!

The last two weeks, Dara has also talked to a couple of the food world’s most famous travelers, Anthony Bourdain and Andrew Zimmern, both from the Travel Channel. Coming up Saturday, it’s an hour of food talk on “Off the Menu” with Dara! This week, we spring forward and talk Food Trucks. Two of our favorites, Hola Arepa and Vellee Deli, will be in-studio with Dara. What is difficult about operating a food truck, but what are the rewards as well? Plus, Minneapolis restaurants and skyway food stops are starting to get a little political attention as the war between food trucks and brick and mortar restaurants is back on. Are food trucks getting a break that other places do not and what’s fair for both sides? Dara will find out what two operators think about it.

Dara also will welcome writer Josh Schonwald, one of the founding editors of The Taste of Tomorrow web site and a Chicago writer. He’ll be discussing his book “The Taste of Tomorrow”, a fascinating investigation into the trends and technologies that are transforming the world of food.

And don’t forget Dara’s weekly “Top 5”! This week, go back to your childhood and (finally) welcome warm weather as Dara shares her Top 5 Drive-Ins. It’s all from 11:00-Noon on Saturday, on “Off the Menu” with Dara Moskowitz Grumdahl! You can also catch Dara’s appearance with Chad every Thursday afternoon at 2:30 or listen to the podcast from this past week here.
