Minn. Native Receives Another Tony Nomination

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Minnesota-native stage actress Laura Osnes earned a second Tony Award nomination Tuesday morning for her work on Broadway.

Osnes, who graduated from Eagan High School, was nominated for best leading actress in a musical for playing the title role in the revival of "Rodgers + Hammerstein's Cinderella."

The show itself was nominated for nine awards, including best revival of a musical.

The other nominees in her category include Stephanie J. Block in "The Mystery of Edwin Drood," Carolee Carmello in "Scandalous," Valisia LeKae in "Motown The Musical," and Patina Miller in "Pippin."

Osnes was previously nominated for a Tony Award last year, for playing Bonnie Parker in the the musical version of "Bonnie & Clyde."

In 2007, Osnes was named the winner of a reality TV competition to play the role of Sandy in a revival of "Grease."
