Fire Damages Home, Displaces Family In Elk River

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Authorities said three people escaped safely, one with minor injuries, after a fire took over an Elk River home late Tuesday night.

Crews responded to a report of a house fire at about 11:30 p.m. on the 13000 block of 212th Avenue in Elk River. When authorities arrived, a fire had started in the back of the home and windy conditions had helped spread it to the front.

Crews from five fire departments were called into assist at the scene. Fire officials said the roof of the home was destroyed, but everyone got out safely. The family is being assisted by the American Red Cross. Authorities said the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
