DULUTH, Minn. (AP) – Authorities say a body was found after a cabin fire east of Ely on Greenstone Lake.

The Duluth News Tribune reports the fire happened early Monday.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office says a man called 911 to say his 49-year-old friend was inside a burning cabin and couldn’t make it out. The cabin was on the south shore of Greenstone Lake and could only be accessed by water.

The Morse Township and Fall Lake fire departments responded but could not save the person inside.

An autopsy is pending. Authorities say they believe the victim is from Ely, but more details were not released.
