Science Museum's Big Back Yard Provides Kids Outdoor Entertainment

ST. PAUL, Minn. (WCCO) -- We know many parents are always looking for something fun to do with the kids when school's out.

The Big Back yard at the Science Museum is a great option for mixing fun with a hint of education. The area features a miniature golf course with plenty of science behind it. While it's a nine-hole course that's fun, tricky and challenging, it's also teaching a lesson.

It provides a visual of how water shapes and changes our landscape around the world. Other events include a river you can put your hands in to feel the water current, a prairie maze, outdoor exhibits that allow you to sit and have some ice cream and go search for hidden gems in the sand like fossils and stones.

The Science Museum is open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. weekdays and the outdoor Big Back Yard is open from 10 a.m. to dusk. The miniature golf course costs $3 to $5.
